MA Art, Health &
Well-being
The programme is designed for:
Visual Artists and Designers working or who wish to work in participatory practices in public and independent sectors e.g., arts administrators, community arts organisers or freelance artists
Health and social care practitioners interested in developing art based approaches in health, public and independent sectors e.g. community based nurses, hospital arts practitioners, local authority arts development practitioners and art therapists.
Those whose work involves the practice or organisation of arts activities involving inclusion and participation who may have proven skills in artistic and creative activities e.g. music, dance or drama workers working in collaborative practice such as carnival or other public events
Course participants will be drawn from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines. What they will have in common is their interest in making a significant difference in the lives of people who's civil and human rights may be threatened and who frequently experience social exclusion and powerlessness. There will be a particular focus on good practice in relation to ethical issues, the rights of people involved in participatory practices and the evaluation of art based projects.
Assessment:
Assessment is continuous without formal examination. With the Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma there is an assessed assignment for each module. The assignments and dissertation may vary from case studies, action research, formal theoretical papers to visual evidence supported by critical analysis.
